What We Are Doing With Marijuana
Marijuana is a plant that has many debates, many uses, and many reasons for people to get emotional about the legalization of it.
I received a phone call yesterday from my father which told me he just got his medical marijuana license. I was amazed since he had been using it illegally for 45 years. I figured for sure he would just finish out his time on the same road. I remember hearing though his supplier got busted and is serving time so dad was out of the good stuff. I know some of you are probably wondering how I am still alive with a parent that smokes pot (nevermind two of them). The rationale is easier than one might think in that marijuana doesn’t actually turn you into a murdering homosexual with hints of bipolar (although if dad is a homosexual then I will still try to love him the same and accept him for what he is inside). My father did a fine job, high or not, and I respect his dedication in what he loves.
So lately I have spent some time reading and educating myself in the world of hemp and marijuana through the last hundred years or so. I have watched documentaries , read books, and even spend time on MPP.org which I feel is an outstanding website in for what it stands for.
Drug Suppliers Say Keep it Illegal
Did you just read that right? The “bad guys” want this stuff to be illegal? No, it’s right because if it was legal they wouldn’t make any money. Congress, seriously are you not hearing this? The bad guys DON’T want you to legalize it. Honestly, I don’t think it take a genius to figure out that if you did legalize, crime would go down by a very large percentage. Tax revenue would increase significantly for the Federal and state governments filling the empty void on their balance sheets. Lastly, about $200 billion dollars being pumped into the ridiculous War on Drugs campaign could be funneled into something useful for once.
Mom and Dad Are Doing It
I grew up as a son of two hippies and I turned out just fine. I hold a career job, have a family, and a business to boot. Seems like I got two feet on the ground. See the pot made my parents better or at least more relaxed. I grew up without a spanking, without abuse, and with some of the best parents ever had. This isn’t some feel-good paragraph for you to get all emotional on. This is to tell you my mom and dad are doing it anyways and raised three awesome kids, well 1.5 since my brother isn’t quite as awesome as me and my sister doesn’t count because she is not a man. The parental figures successfully held down a 30-year career building war fighting naval submarines for our seamen. They did well in school, and have a fine family to be proud of while sill being under the influence of some serious bud.
People Die From It
No this isn’t true. There isn’t one reported death from reefer. We are willing to keep death substances alive and tax tobacco and alcohol but we continue to demonize a plant that makes people happy and healthy. Just writing that last sentence makes me feel like I live in the dumbest country in the world. Almost 1 million deaths a year or so are contributed to tobacco and alcohol and not one to marijuana? I don’t know about you but I would rather force my neighbors to smoke pot than buy him a beer.
Let People Grow
Why keep selling grow houses to people? What a waste in money, police, and affordable housing. Let us all grow one plant. We will learn how to farm and we will be A-OK. Hell the local government can even sell me a license to grow one plant so they make some money. To continue to allow grow houses to be in residential neighborhoods in hopes they will be discovered is garbage. This endangers my family and my friends that live in those neighborhoods.
Congress Has the Power
Congress can change this. Instead they try to use this as a tool of fear for elections and success markers. They are wasting my time by having me read about the biggest pot busts, waste my money by arresting teenagers for a joint, and waste the future of America by marking people who just want a high as criminals forever changing the fair landscape of employment. I own a business and I encourage my employees to be high, at least they are better to work with and don’t stress me out.
The United States is becoming retarded population in almost all areas compared to the rest of the world. If Obama really wants change he should start here so people can start getting creative in how to really fix this country. You don’t need a suit to figure shit out, sometimes all you needs is sandals, some jean shorts, tank top, and a sweet J.

…but seriously, I agree with you 100%. Then again, we’ve had this conversation a few times. Alcohol manufacturers and organized crime don’t want it legalized. Add in a dash of God-fearing Christian and you have a path that no typical, spineless politician wants to tread.
California has always been the test bed for national law. Let’s hope they work the bugs out of it.
Cali’s BIG beer distributor assn is ‘against’, and, associate memebers: Sierra nevada and Stone BOTH were quick to distance themselves from this idiocy.
Any/ALL beer distributors out to be ‘for’ the new legislation for one VERY good ‘reason’:
1) ‘Math’. As in do it. $50 bags (w/tax) or ‘free’ (grown in the back yard/on the apt balcony/in a planter in the den v $500 bags from you (sometimes NOT so ‘friendly) local drug dealer = $450 of ‘stimulus’ to buy any/everything else that you want AND $50/per for the struggling state budget AND millions upon millions NOT going to be spent chasing, trying, counseling, incarcerating otherwise ‘innocents’.
It’s not ‘complicated’, it’s simple’…math. Now, just do it, Cali!
