Finally! Verizon Gets the iPhone 4

Verizon Gets Apple iPhone 4Christ, what took so long? I finally am able to sign up with Verizon for a larger bill than what I currently get with AT&T plus get a phone that is CDMA which is not capable of being used anywhere else in the world. I have been anticipating getting fucked by another company that grossly takes advantage of American consumers since AT&T started carrying the iPhone. All I can say is I am one lucky guy living in one country that has two of the biggest and powerful companies willing to lighten my wallet each and every month all while giving me third rate customer service and shitty signal. Still I don’t understand why we don’t have a larger immigration problem with Mexicans wanting to come over and get iPhones from AT&T and Verizon.

I was really anxious though to find all the differences in this version of the iPhone from Apple. I was pleasantly surprised that they made a slight modification of the antenna for the CDMA network and added a Verizon logo. These features make it a no brainer to switch from AT&T for current users and buy a new iPhone with a slightly more expensive carrier. Today we can all celebrate choice in choosing if we want to get screwed or really screwed for the privilege of using and owning an iPhone. For those celebrating a moment like this as I am, I can only imagine you are basking in the improvements and the additional network that will bestow the greatness of Apple on us.

We all held our breath at the obvious that Verizon was going to announce the iPhone on the network but lucky for me in case it wasn’t obvious enough there was scores of the same article on Yahoo News, Wired, and other news outlet making sure I knew what the hell was going on. Of course, I read them all regardless of duplication. The fact is I am one inquisitive bastard that reels for more of the same which is exactly what three of the biggest companies just gave me.

I think one of the most important things that I nearly left out is the opportunity for me to re-commit for another 2 year contract that I can’t break without giving up my first born. How often do you get to commit on such a level? I think it’s important to take a step in responsibility to make sure you give as much as you can for a phone on a monthly basis until you can’t afford it anymore or you become part of the millions unemployed, but fear not, at least unemployment will cover the iPhone for up to 2 years. Think about 2 years of buying from the app store, paying for a right to use a very small data chunk, and the right to stay on hold over your miscalculated monthly statement.

Today, I say I am American. I am not a foreigner with small monthly bills for my cellular phone. I have a blue passport that allows me to travel to many other countries without a visa so I can be reminded of how much cheaper the world gets the same services I have. Damn it I have earned the right to be misinformed by American media, big corporations, and tricked into extensive fees that weren’t explained when I make a contractual agreement I have no business signing without hiring a lawyer for $500 an hour to review it. I am one lucky prick and for that I am excited that Verizon finally got the iPhone.

In case you haven’t noticed, the average smart phone became smarter than the average American a looooooong time ago.
