Shortly after I turned 21, I started venturing out to the bars with my friends. I had a favorite place that was really low key and most people were in their mid 20's to mid 40's. A nice mixture of folks. Plus They made a mean margarita on the rocks and they had live music on the weekends. Every Friday the same guy played. He was a pretty cool guy, he wouldn't get pissed at the drunks screaming out requests.
One night after an hour of begging him to play "Joy to the world", he finally admitted he didn't know the words. But he would play it if me and my friend would come up and sing.
I think it was more of an "Eff you, if you want to hear it, you'll sing the damn song" not a nice thing. But what he didn't know was that I have little shame even when sober. Drunk Misha, has no shame whatsoever.
So that's the night I got on stage and got the whole bar to sing "joy to the world".
Anytime I see the musician playing at another bar (b/c my bar closed down, RIP the corner), I shout at the top of my lung "Three Dog Night, play the damn frog song!" and he of course responds with "Damn it, only if you get up here and sing it with me!"
